Cast Iron may crack when it gets hot, i.e. it's more brittle than other metals.
IIRC there have been Formula SAE brake rotors made from Grade 40 Cast Iron that have exploded during competitions due to high heat and other stuff.

High heat is what causes cracked exhaust manifolds (that little ticking-sound leak that comes with the crack) and mounting studs to pull out of the head.
